Penn State Harrisburg

The Arboretum at Penn State Harrisburg spans the 218-acre campus that was founded in 1966. The site was a former pickle farm and Air Force base, located just 9 miles south of the City of Harrisburg and in close proximity of the Susquehanna River within historic Middletown. More than 45 different species and over 800 trees have been tagged. Joining the Commonwealth Arboreta Network broadens the campus impact and creates a “living laboratory” by providing new research paths and creating new teaching opportunities in courses like BIO 424: The Use of Plants and BIOL 220: Populations and Communities.
