Penn State Berks

The arboretum at Penn State Berks, which occupies the former Janssen family estate, is intended to showcase a diverse collection of trees for students as well as the local community. It contains more than 190 identified tree species across the campus’s 258 acres, with many of the trees located near academic buildings and residence halls.

A key feature of the arboretum is the Center for Agricultural Sciences and a Sustainable Environment, a 30-acre teaching and research site. Within that area is a 4-acre plant collection designed specifically to support instruction and hands-on learning in fields such as biology, plant science, soils, and sustainable agriculture. Students use the center as a living laboratory for course work, research projects, and outdoor learning activities.
